Dreamspeaker Review

Hello everyone. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today I wanted to share my thoughts on this book I’ve recently finished reading with my daughter. The name of the book is Dreamspeaker and it’s one that I read during high school.

This post has been transferred over from my previous website.

I’ve recently started reading my chapter books at naptime and bedtime to help introduce my daughter to a larger variety of words since she has started to become more verbal in terms of pronouncing her words and retaining the info. It’s been a wonderful idea for the both of us. She was only around 2 years old when I first posted this ☺️

When you first start the story of DreamSpeaker you’re introduced to a very troubled young boy. He’s been in and out of foster homes and finds himself in a facility with other troubled young boys. A couple of incidents happen and the young boy, Peter, runs away from the facility.

A couple of days after he runs away he finds himself bumping into an older gentleman and a man who is mute. They end up taking him in for a while and the boy starts to find himself. Starts to understand why he is the way he is, why he does the things he does. He starts developing a beautiful relationship with these two older men and in the end refers to them as grandpa and uncle.

The older man is Native and is a Dreamspeaker himself which is a beautiful and important part of the book. This young boy has troubles following him and the Dreamspeaker explains to him what’s happening as well as how to fight it off. That part when it gets really sad is of course the end.

After the boy is doing so well, developing healthily and happily. Then the police come and rip him from his new family. The only ones who have accepted him for who he really is. They take him back to the institute and his family try adopting him and we’re told no. Not to spoil the book for anyone but in the end all three of them die a very sad death. I won’t share how they pass because then I’d be giving away the really heart wrenching part.

All in all, this was a beautiful story written by Anne Cameron and I will most definitely look forward to reading another book by this author. This story was so enjoyably compelling.

Thanks for checking out my little review. If you have a chance to check the book out than I really suggest you do so. You won’t be disappointed.
